Using Destination Tags/Memos on Coinbase

How do I find the Destination Tag/Memo on Coinbase?

To receive on Coinbase:

  • Select Receive and choose the crypto you want to receive

  • You'll be shown the crypto address AND memo

To send from Coinbase:

  • Select Send and choose the crypto you want to send

  • You'll need to enter a recipient (address) AND memo (Destination Tag)

What happens if I input an incorrect Destination Tag to send funds to Coinbase?

You must always include the correct Destination Tag before sending to Coinbase. Omitting or using an incorrect Destination Tag will cause a delay in crediting the transaction to your Coinbase account. Under certain circumstances, these funds may not be creditable.

Coinbase encourages the use of small test sends to ensure the address and destination tag are correct.

If you attempt to send funds to Coinbase without a Destination Tag, those funds will not be received by Coinbase. Please contact the wallet owner or support team from where the funds were sent to get help.

If you accidentally put the wrong Destination Tag when you sent funds to Coinbase, please reach out to our support team and they may be able to assist you with recovering these funds.

What happens if I send funds from Coinbase without a Destination Tag to a wallet or exchange that requires a Destination Tag?

These funds will have already left your Coinbase account and therefore Coinbase cannot retrieve them. Please contact the receiving wallet owner or support team to get help.
